Today was my first attempt at the range. I loaded the 12 round mags and dropped a single round into the barrel and hit the slide release. I inserted the 12 round mag and went to fire the pistol. New owner. The slide will not travel far enough to engage side release. The guide is positioned correctly. When I put the takedown lever horizontal, I can lift the side release and the mag safety clicks in. All of my pistols of various makes will do this, some more readily than others--probably related to the slide lock design/spring. If you ease the magazine into the well, it won't happen. Regardless it isn't a flaw or a problem.

It stops short when hitting g this part of the FCU, which is raised up higher than on my other two FCU's ( which sit just below the frame rails).
