General Acoustic Guitar DiscussionDec 17, 2022 · Given that Elliotts have become nearly unobtainable as of late, I'm looking at a Kat Eyz Steampunk for the very wide neck on my Pledger custom. It's over 2" wide at the 7th fret. Heading to the ordering page right now... I use two capos with plastic sleeves (Kat Eyz and McKinney), but only one with a rubber pad (Shubb), so I can't compare degrees of hardness. However, I have discovered that the position of the capo on the fret does make a substantial difference in sound. I'm able to place both the Kat Eyz and McKinney directly on top of the fret just behind center.A Kat Eyz Capo update. It is tension adjustable and seems to fit guitars with neck widths from 1 11/16 to 1 7/8 inches at the nut.I have used it on Martins, Taylors, Gibsons, and Melbournes with out any buzzing or other problems.. But the thing I like about the Collins vs Elliot Elite is the smoothness of the thumb screw motion. The Collins has higher threads per inch than the screw on the Elliott which makes it operate much smoother. Does the Kat Eyez have a smooth tightening action?
