Litter-Robot 3 is equipped with infrared emitters and sensors located above the waste drawer that check if the drawer is full each time the globe returns to the Home position. Once a full waste drawer is detected, the unit will indicate it is full with a blue flashing light.
I can still switch the Litter Robot on and off via the app but I can't do anything else. I changed the old DFI sensor in April 2020 to the newer version because the old IR one stopped working. The new sensor came as part of the Connect upgrade kit which I purchased. Litter Robot owner here -- Have had two litter robots and I think a recent batch of circuits is faulty. First one had no trouble with DFI for years; second one I bought refurbished and DFI went in 2 months. I replaced the DFI on first one, that lasted only 2 months. If Whisker does not get on top of this, they will lose their audience.
Actually just had this issue! Came across an old thread on here that had this link: litter robot dfi sensor . I followed the steps and haven’t had issues since. Granted it’s only been like a week but that was after two weeks of non stop drawer full. It ended up I think being the bag, crinkling up just enough to set off the sensor.

Pressing RESET will cancel the DFI flashing, but if the drawer is full, the sensors will action flashing again. The sensors work by sending beams from one sensor to the other, and if the beam is interrupted, the blue light will flash as the Litter-Robot thinks the drawer needs to be emptied.
